Can Plants Talk to Eachother?

Plants. All around us. So what do you think? Can these plants that are all around us talk to each other? Well, technically, the answer is yes. Have you ever seen those animals that lift their tails to warn the pack of danger? The plants are kinda like that. These plant are constantly producing chemical signals according to their environment, especially when under attack. When plants get damaged, by bugs or us humans, they send these signals either by air or through the soil to the rest of the plant so it can strengthen itself. Some plants can pick up on these signals and build up their immune system (Like when cold and flu season comes around and you stock up your house on vitamins and medicine). Even though it might be an accident to have other plants pick up these signals, they do. I found this very interesting and if you'd like to know more there is a TED ED video about it

WONDER by R.J. Palacio

Yay for Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday! Well, for most of you Spring break started today (Mine is next week!) But either way today is book review time and just yesterday I finished reading Wonder, so here you have it!
WONDER by RJ Palacio

August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial abnormality that made his over protective parents homeschool him, until now. Auggie considers himself a completely normal kid, but can he convince others of that? Middle school is hard enough, and if you've ever been the new kid in school, you know it can be hard. In this beautiful story we discover different peoples points of view of August and follow Auggie through the new challenges of middle school. R.J. Palacio has written a modern must read classic. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I think you will too! You can find it at the Tremonton Library

Wednesday!

Today while looking at random facts, I found several about hearts. One being that the largest heart on the planet belongs to a blue whale and is typically 1,500 pounds! And because the heart has its own electrical impulse, it can continue to beat even when separated from the body ( As long as it has an adequate supply of oxygen). The stereotypical heart is meant to be two hearts fused together. And although when people hearts are broken they feel they could die, an elephant can die from a broken heart. Stress can also literally break your heart. It's is called "Broken Heart Syndrome" and occurs in stressful situations and occurs when the bottom of the heart balloons into the shape of a pot.
